(Photo by Mike Comer/Getty Images)Clemson freshman quarterback Trevor Lawrence missed the second half of the Tigers’ comeback win against Syracuse this afternoon, as the former five-star recruit left the contest late in the second quarter after taking a big blow to his head.Lawrence, who was starting his first-career game for Clemson, was checked out in the locker room and then spent the second half on the sideline without his helmet on.Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney provided an update on Lawrence following the win.Swinney said that Lawrence is in concussion protocol, but he sustained no other injuries to his upper body.From The State:“He’s really doing great. He actually wanted to come back in and play. He got banged up. He had kind of concussion like symptoms and you just don’t mess with that. He was trying to come back and play… but you trust your doctors and they shut him down,” Swinney said.Swinney added that Lawrence seemed fine during the postgame celebration.“He’ll be in our (concussion) protocol, but he was really good after the game,” Swinney said. “He was celebrating with his teammates. Hopefully he’ll bounce back and be OK.”It’s unclear what Lawrence’s status for next weekend will be.Clemson is set to play at Wake Forest on Saturday.
