Climate Change: The Absolute Truth Revealed (Video)

first_imgSign up for our COVID-19 newsletter to stay up-to-date on the latest coronavirus news throughout New York For decades, the climate change controversy has dominated scientific, political, religious and kindergarten class discussion, as those who believe that man-made activities have almost-irreparably affected global atmospheric conditions battle those who think that instead, it’s because Inspector Gadget has yet to topple Dr. Claw’s weather machine.Because let’s face it, those are the only two possibilities.Despite, like, science and stuff, there are those who still believe the Dr. Claw theory. Many of them, somehow were able to rise to a position of relative power in our country. Politicians for example. They will be very interested in this proposal to change the naming convention which has been in use by the World Meteorological Organization since the 1950s to name violent storms and extreme weather events.ClimateNameChange.org believes that this naming convention might be better suited to help pay homage to those who believe in the Dr. Claw theory.Oh, and the title of this post, “Climate Change: The Absolute Truth Revealed”? That was a lie. Ha! Gotcha. It’s the internet. I can say whatever I want to.But while you’re here, check out the proposed naming convention. And don’t worry, Dr. Clawians. He’ll get Gadget next time.Next time.last_img read more

Zim hand Bafana 2-1 friendly defeat

first_img11 September 2013Zimbabwe handed a mostly South African-based Bafana Bafana a 2-1 beating in an international friendly at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Tuesday evening. In fact, 18 of the players on the pitch at the start of the contest ply their trade in the Premier Soccer League (PSL). Goalkeeper Darren Keet was the only South African who plays his football outside of the country.CHANThe line-up revealed, perhaps, some of coach Gordon Igesund’s thinking ahead of next year’s African Nations Championships (CHAN), which take place in South Africa from 11 January to 1 February. The event will feature national teams made up of only home-based players. In the Zimbabwean match, however, Igesund was unable to select any players from Orlando Pirates, who were not considered because of club commitments.Perhaps, with the Buccaneers’ players playing in their backyard, the result might have been different, but Zimbabwe were full value for their victory.Scoring chanceThe Warriors took the game to Bafana Bafana and created a scoring chance in the very first minute, but Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona fired high over the bar.Keet was then called on to deny Kingston Nkhatha by racing off his line to deny the Amakhosi’s man run onto a long ball.Khama Billiat enjoyed a fine game and was a constant thorn in the home team’s side. He came close with a long range effort, but was just off target. After good build-up play, Bernard Parker had a chance for Bafana Bafana 10 minutes from the break, but the Zimbabwean defence scrambled and conceded a corner.Reneilwe Letsholonyane then put in a good run, but the linesman blew the call and flagged him for being offsides.LeadFive minutes into the second half, the Warriors took the lead from a corner. After bringing the ball down smartly off his chest, Musona blasted the ball past Keet, with a powerful left-footed volley that left the goalkeeper helpless.Billiat posed another question when he tried to set Nkhatha up, but Keet was aware of the danger and came out quickly to snuff it out.Parker might have levelled for South Africa, but his header was off target, passing to the right of Washington Arubi’s goal.Tsepo Masilela narrowly missed out on scoring his first goal for Bafana Bafana in the 74th minute, but his shot frustratingly passed just over the bar.Wrong callZimbabwe should have taken a 2-0 lead 10 minutes from time, but Musona was blown up for being offside. Replays suggested the linesman got it wrong again. The match passed into time added on and four minutes after the regulation 90 Cuthbert Malajila put the Warriors two goals ahead after being set up by Nkhata, whose work left the Sundowns’ man needing only a tap-in to score.Parker snatched a late consolation goal for South Africa with a shot from distance, but there was no time left to find a second goal and Zimbabwe claimed the spoils 2-1.last_img read more

AppsGoneFree Keeps You Posted On App Store Deals

first_imgWhy Tech Companies Need Simpler Terms of Servic… Apple’s App Store is a frantic place. There’s no good way to keep track of what’s new or what’s changed among the more than 700,000 apps in there. For instance, when a great app goes free for a promotion, wouldn’t you like to know about it? Believe it or not, there’s an app for that. AppsGoneFree 2.0 launched Tuesday.Apps don’t cost a lot of money, but if you’re the type of person who likes to try them all, it adds up. So AppsGoneFree updates every day with the latest free promotional offers for paid apps. AppsGoneFree 2.0 has an iPad version and nine languages and App Store locations, so more people can take advantage of the offers. It also has a new feature called AppBump, which lets the million members of AppsGoneFree nominate their favorite apps to be featured. If the developer agrees to make the app free for a day, AppsGoneFree will feature it prominently.AppsGoneFree is a service from AppAdvice, a site dedicated to reviewing the latest and greatest iOS apps. The site’s knowledge of the app universe helped it identify an area of need for developers and customers alike, and AppsGoneFree is the result.App Store StrugglesApps in the App Store live and die by the buzz. By temporarily going free, they can quickly climb the charts and get attention. This hopefully leads to future sales.“The problem with this methodology is the App Store is too crazy a place for methodologies,” says AppAdvice editor in chief Jamie Young. “There are literally several hundred apps reducing their price to free each day. This technique doesn’t work reliably to draw any attention to an app.”So AppsGoneFree helps developers get an additional bump out of those promotions, and its new democratic features let the community of app enthusiasts give valuable feedback and generate exposure. And whether you’re an enthusiast or not, if you want to know when great apps go free, just install AppsGoneFree (it’s free), and the app will alert you when the day’s issue comes out.Disclosure: Jon and Jamie used to host The Dock Podcast together, which is why Jamie tipped him off to this update. jon mitchell 8 Best WordPress Hosting Solutions on the Market A Web Developer’s New Best Friend is the AI Wai…center_img Tags:#apps#web Related Posts Top Reasons to Go With Managed WordPress Hostinglast_img read more

Chennai Super Kings in IPL: 8 finals in 10 seasons

first_imgChennai Super Kings (CSK) made history on Friday by reaching their 8th IPL final after they beat Delhi Capitals by 6 wickets in Qualifier 2 in Vizag. No other team has featured in as many finals – Mumbai Indians lying a distant 2nd with 4 final appearances. Curiously, these 2 teams have faced each other in 3 finals already and come May 12, they will be slugging it out for the trophy once again – for a record 4th time.Coming back to CSK’s record in IPL finals, it’s one of the rare statistics regarding their IPL history where they find themselves in a slightly disadvantageous position. In the 7 finals that CSK have played, they have emerged winners thrice (2010, 2011 and 2018) while ending as runners-up on 4 separate [email protected] reach their 8th #VIVOIPL final, what a team #CSKvDC pic.twitter.com/mMpGkNTJEbIndianPremierLeague (@IPL) May 10, 2019Here is an account of how CSK have fared in each of their IPL finals:1. 2008: CSK vs Rajasthan Royals, MumbaiIn the inaugural edition of the IPL, CSK started as favourites against the underdogs – Shane Warne’s Royals. But the narrative changed soon as Man of the match Yusuf Pathan picked up 3 wickets to restrict Dhoni’s men to 163, before bludgeoning his way to a match-winning 56 to bring home his side’s maiden and till date, only IPL trophy.2. 2010: CSK vs Mumbai Indians, MumbaiRiding on Man of the match Suresh Raina’s 57 not out, CSK posted a respectable 168/5 batting first. In reply, even though skipper Sachin Tendulkar (48) held up one end, the rest of the batsmen couldn’t provide enough support to the legend, culminating in a 22-run defeat for the Blue Brigade and a maiden title for CSK.advertisement3. 2011: CSK vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, ChennaiCSK returned to their 3rd IPL final as overwhelming favourites, but this time they lived to tell the tale. Helped by Man of the match Murali Vijay’s 95 and Michael Hussey’s 63, CSK posted a huge total of 205/5 which proved too much for Daniel Vettori’s team as R Ashwin’s tweakers brought CSK a 58-run victory and their 2nd title win.4. 2012: CSK vs Kolkata Knight Riders, ChennaiEven though a Suresh Raina masterclass – 73(38) – propelled CSK to 190/3, KKR, who were high on momentum late in the season, finsihed the chase with 2 balls to spare. The now-forgotten Manvinder Bisla (89), who was adjudged the Man of the match, and Jacques Kallis (69) played starring roles in KKR’s long-awaited triumph.5. 2013: CSK vs Mumbai Indians, KolkataMan-of-the-match Kieron Pollard (60) almost single-handedly took MI to 148/9 after compatriot Dwayne Bravo had rocked the Mumbai innings with 4 wickets. But MI survived a late onslaught from MS Dhoni (63*) to win by 23 runs – almost an identical margin as the 2010 final.6. 2015: CSK vs Mumbai Indians, KolkataMumbai posted a huge total of 202/5 helped by Man of the match Rohit Sharma’s whirlwind 50 off 26 balls. The target proved too much for Dhoni’s men as they were able to muster only 161/8 with Mitchell McClenaghan (3/25) being the chief destroyer.7. 2018: CSK vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, MumbaiAfter being sidelined into wilderness for 2 years following the spot-fixing scandal, CSK had a few points to prove as they returned to the biggest stage of the IPL. Yusuf Pathan once again threatened to spoil CSK’s night when his 45 off 25 balls boosted SRH’s total to 178. But thanks to Man of the match Shane Watson’s 51-ball-century, CSK finished the chase off in style, with 9 balls to spare, thus bringing down curtains on an emotional 6 weeks for the side. But till date, CSK remains the only IPL side to have defended their crown – something they will take inspiration from when they take the field on May 12.Also Read | We are in the final because of our bowlers: MS Dhoni after CSK beat DC in Qualifier 2Also Read | Chennai Super Kings crush Delhi Capitals, storm into 8th IPL finallast_img read more

IPL 2019 Final: Pollard looks to spend a happy birthday evening as MI eye glory

first_imgMumbai Indians are taking on the formidable defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2019 final tonight. While both teams will be eyeing supremacy having won 3 titles each previously, for MI all-rounder Kieron Pollard, the day is going to be extra special as he tries to win his 5th IPL final on his birthday!Pollard is turning 32 years old today but the cricketer has over the years built a strong rapport with MI – so much so that they have had the big-hitting West Indian in their side since buying him for $750,000 in the 2010 auction.IPL 2019 FINAL: MI vs CSK Live BlogIncidentally, this will be Pollard’s 5th appearance in an IPL final, having been part of each of MI’s title-winning campaigns in the tournament’s history. Pollard celebrated the occasion ahead of the final by posting an image of himself on Instagram.”Perfect pic… looking to the heavens not asking for anything thanking the almighty for the wonderful journey he continues to take me, As I embark on another final , also 5th ipl final, 10 year anniversary at @mumbaiindians also to go along with all the other finals I have played 3rd in 3 tournaments for the year just want to say thanks for the guidance blessings and the opportunities. It’s a total package that comes with sacrifice ridicules and the list goes on but I’m forever grateful .???? #blessedandthankful #positivity”: Pollard captioned the post.Mumbai Indians and their former skipper Sachin Tendulkar too took the occasion to wish Pollard on his birthday.Wishing you a very Happy Birthday @KieronPollard55! Hope you can make this day extra special. You know what I mean. pic.twitter.com/LJezgusau4Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) May 12, 2019Birthday. Final day. Let’s do this, boys #OneFamily #CricketMeriJaan #MumbaiIndians #IPL2019Final #MIvCSK @krunalpandya24 @KieronPollard55 pic.twitter.com/RArWmApan0Mumbai Indians (@mipaltan) May 12, 2019By his own standards, Pollard has had an average IPL 2019 till date scoring 238 runs at a strike-rate of 155.55, lying fifth on the list of highest run-getters for Mumbai this season. Overall, he lies 2nd on the list of most run-makers for MI, behind Rohit Sharma (4883 runs) with 2,714 runs in 147 matches. While MI will be banking on the firepower of Pollard, Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma to put up a big total, they will take solace from the fact that they have had the wood on CSK this season, having won each of the 3 matches against MS Dhoni’s side. But Pollard and MI, both, would know that against Dhoni there is no room for resting on your laurels and that the former India skipper can single-handedly change the game in his favour on any given day. Also Read | IPL final win in 2015 very special: Rohit Sharma recalls celebration with Ritika SajdehAlso Read | 11 years on: Auctioneer recalls MS Dhoni’s sale to CSK before IPL 2008last_img read more
